Spellborn Hunter
A downloadable game for Windows
Early beta version 0b2 - Windows
Getting Started
After creating a Unity Gaming Service Acccount (you can login with Google ID, Apple ID or create an account at Unity Gaming Services), Once you've logged in, you should be logged in automatically each time you return.
Once Logged In
Hit Play and get to the character selection screen. With no characters, you'll need to create a character. Once you have a character, be sure to press I to put on your starter equipment and equip the Lightning spell. During the beta, all new characters will start with basic armor, a sword, and a Lightning spell.
You can also hit T to assign traits. Characters are given 10 traits to start, and earn 4 trait points per level. See the tooltips within the traits for explanations.
Enter The Dungeon
Once you enter the dungeon, you'll find that each level is randomly generated. The goal is to go through the dungeon until you find the exit. The entrance is marked by four statues facing away from each other. The exit is marked by four statues facing each other with a glowing portal in the center.
Your status is saved at each exit. If you leave the level using the pause menu, your progress will not be saved, and you'll lose any experience, gear, or coins found within that level.
Movement is handled using the WASD keys. You can turn the camera using the right mouse button and zoom in and out with the center mouse wheel. Scrolling out can give you a birds eye view of the dungeon, and may help you locate the exit.
Combat is with the left mouse button. If you click on an enemy, you'll automatically face the enemy as you strike. Equipping different weapons will give you different attack styles.
Pay close attention to the items you pick up in the field. This is your best opportunity to upgrade your gear for better gear.
At the entrance and exit, there will always be a merchant who may sell something helpful, and will always be willing to take your excess items off of your hands. Remember, you can only carry so many items before your inventory is full.
Spells
At the beginning of the game, you're given one spell, the Lightning bolt. There will be more spells added in the future which will generally be available for purchase from the merchants. When the game is finalized, you won't start with any spells, and will have to find them or purchase them from merchants.
Before you can cast a spell, you'll need to assign it a slot in the Action Bar. You can have up to 7 spells or potions in the Action Bar.
You can active a spell or potion by clicking on it's icon in the Action Bar, or using the 1 through 7 key depending on it's position within the Action Bar.
For the lightning spell, a magic circle will appear. Move the magic circle to cover the enemy or enemies you wish to cast lightning and press the left mouse button to confirm. Each spell has a cooldown, so keep that in mind.
Known issues:
Sometimes when entering a dungeon, the character will fall through the floor to infinity. Simply hit escape and Quit to return to the character selection screen and then enter again.
Some items are difficult to pick up/click on, especially if the scroll zoom is too far out.
Occassionally, while using the right mouse button to turn the camera, the mechanism will be stuck after you release the right mouse. Double clicking the mouse should fix this.
